Katie's fundraiser for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My beautiful friend and her husband sadly lost their daughter Thea Evelyn in September of last year. Thea spent the last 15 days of her life at Acorns Children’s Hospice in Walsall. The care and support they delivered and showed Thea and her family was impeccable. During Thea’s short life, her parents regularly took her to Walsall Arboretum to experience its beauty. Whilst there Thea even took part in a park run. A favourite memory for both Karen and Johnny.

So in light of that, on Saturday 14th September 2024 (almost a year on from Thea’s first parkrun) myself, along with Thea’s mum, dad and their family and friends will be taking part in “Thea’s parkrun” a 5k run through Walsall Arboretum. The aim is to remember and celebrate Thea and to raise awareness and money for the amazing charity that is Acorn’s Children’s Hospice.

Acorns hospice is a local children’s charity that provides specialist care services to life-limited children and their families in the West Midlands. They supported Karen and Johnny during Thea’s last days and have continued to support the family in their grief.
Here are some words from Karen. “Acorns children’s hospice will forever hold a special place in our hearts. The hospice is truly an amazing place where Thea was cared for in her last few weeks. The staff were unbelievable, so caring and thoughtful throughout and really helped us through our toughest moments. They also allowed Rupert to move in with us and there he was able to create wonderful memories with his little sister”
